Donation for furnishings and home goods

In 2019, Specialty Family Foundation and Board members partnered with A Sense of Home (ASOH) and provided $10,000 in direct donations to create a safe, comfortable, and livable home for a young mother who had recently graduated from foster care and her two small children. Seeing this family settle into a home they could call their own was a transformative experience for us as well for them. Watch the video

Nationwide, 50% of those struggling with housing instability are former foster youth. ASOH believes that a home full of hope, dignity, and love is the first step in homeless prevention. To provide that prevention, ASOH actively solicits and collects donated furniture and home goods to furnish first apartments for youth who have aged out of the foster care system and are striving to get on their feet. To date, 99% of ASOH recipients have been successful in maintaining their tenancy and avoiding homelessness.
