“THE NEST” HOUSING PROGRAM FOR YOUNG PARENTS LAUNCHING SOON

In 2018, Specialty Family Foundation awarded our partner Safe Place for Youth(SPY) $25,000 to help fund the salary of the organization’s newly hired Housing Program Manager tasked with leading multiple initiatives for youth confronting housing instability.

With this leadership position secured, SPY was able to connect 129 young people to secure interim housing, as well as provide case management, meals, and job readiness training for many of their young adult clients. The Housing Program Manager is also overseeing The Nest, an innovative new program designed to provide temporary housing for up to 10 youth and families who are expecting or raising children.

With a shortfall of over 500,000 affordable units for low-income households, LA County is experiencing an urgent housing crisis. Founded in 2011, the non-profit organization Safe Place for Youth (SPY) is committed to supporting homeless youth on LA’s Westside by providing safe, comfortable interim housing resources as well as street outreach and full-wrap around services for young people as they transition to permanent, stable homes.
