Through our $50,000 investment, long-term partner St. Vincent Meals on Wheels(SVMOW) was able to acquire a freezer storage truck, frozen meal trays, and racks to support expanded delivery services during COVID-19. With these added assets, SVMOW is now able to not only deliver hot meals, but to stock client’s empty freezers with frozen meals to last them through the pandemic. With the funding in place, St. Vincent was able to double their meal capacity to over 20,000 meals provided weekly, delivered to over 500 new clients and counting.

An estimated 2 million people in LA County live with food insecurity. This
translates to around one in five people in LA who don’t know where their next meal will come from. The COVID-19 crisis has only exacerbated hunger in our communities, especially among fixed- and low-income seniors and people with disabilities. With the additional funding, St. Vincent Meals on Wheels(SVMOW) is stepping up efforts to prevent LA’s elderly and disabled community members from going hungry.
